IT’S IN THE CAN! That’s movie talk for: THE MOVIE IS FINISHED!
Well, almost finished anyway. They are done adding the musical score, written by Nick Urata. Next they will record the music for the end credits and THEN it will be officially done. WOO HOO! But there’s still one more step to the process. We need to find distribution. Distributors are the people who decide which theaters the movie will be shown in. It’ s a really important part of the process, and apparently it may take some some. SIGH. It’s so hard to wait! BUT I couldn’t be happier with the way things have turned out. We have a great script by Garry Williams, a cast and crew sent from heaven, and Stephen Gyllenhaal, our director is BRILLIANT. Rumor has it that the movie will be released sometime in 2016. Follow us @So B. It Film on both Facebook and Twitter where you’ll find photos and news items about the movie. In the meantime, please enjoy a few photos from my personal collection….

14 year old Talitha Bateman is our Heidi. Trust me when I tell you that this girl is going to be a BIG star.

I still can’t believe that Alfre Woodard is our Bernie. She is so wonderful it will blow your socks off.

Most of the film was shot in Southern California but Stephen Gyllenhaal and our cinematographer, Patrick Murguia came east to capture the beauty of Upstate new York.

I spent two weeks on the set. This is Stephen Gyllenhaal photo bombing Cloris Leachman and me. Was it fun? Really fun. A dream come true.
Remember to follow us @So B. It Film on twitter and Face Book. I will post again as soon as I have more news. Until then….
Soof,
Sarah
what is the specific time period of your book So B. It ???
i am doing a book project but i am really stuck on this question
thank you
svw
I purposely left the time period a little vague because I wanted my readers to feel the story was taking place in the present. About the only thing you can go by is that Zander’s father was in the Viet Nam War. So I would say if you HAVE to answer that question, the story takes place some time in the 1980’s. Hope this helps! SW

what do you focus on when you write books?
Funny- I just got asked that exact same question by someone else. I like to focus on my what my characters are thinking and feeling when I write. The plot comes AFTER that. – SW

Hi!
I am a big fan of this book – each time I read it, it makes me cry. I simply cannot wait for the movie to come out! I was curious about a few things – what sickness did Mama have that made her head hurt, and what was the reason for her death? Were the headaches related to her death? Was there a reason for Elliot shaving his head, or was it just his style?
Thanks a lot,
Your fan
HELLO! Thanks for your message. In the book, So B It I didn’t really specify what was wrong with Mama. In the movie, we decided to make her death due to a weakened heart. Elliot’s hair was kept short because it was easier to care for that way. There are a few things that we changed in the movie version – there had to be because otherwise the movie would have lasted too long! But I’ve seen the film, and I LOVE it. I am sure that fans of the book will not be disappointed. – SW
Hi, I love your books! I saw the trailer and it was awesome! I read this book at the starting of 6th grade last year and I completely soofed it! I have to admit that I cried at the last few chapter. So anyways good luck with the film, congrats, I hope it will be hit film. In fact, now that I think of it, this might be the best film of 2016 or 2017 (whenever it is released). I know i’ll soof it. I hope the others who watch this, will too. Definitely will see it as soon as possible! So good luck!
From,
Jashu
Hi Jashu- thanks for your message. I’m so glad that you enjoyed reading So B It and that you “goofed” it! I think you will be very pleased with the movie too. They really managed to captured the heart of the story in a lovely way. Take care and have a great summer.- SW
Do you ever think of making a movie out of your book, PIE? I loved the book, it made my cry, but it would be very great if I could see what the characters and places look like in a movie.
I would love to see PIE made into a movie. We’re already written the screenplay – now all we need is a producer! – SW
